Jennifer began dancing at the age of three under the direction of Janis Jamison Roeton. She continued to train with Ms. Roeton for seventeen years and eventually became an instructor for her. Jennifer also trained with various master teachers including the TCU Dance Department, Michael Vernon, Diane West and Margo Dean. She also continued her training by attending a variety of conventions and exclusive camps. She studied in the areas of tap, ballet, jazz, pointe, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. She was a competitive dancer for eleven years and also a member of Margo Dean’s Ballet Concerto. As a competitive dancer Jennifer won numerous regional and national titles.
Jennifer began teaching at the age of fourteen and quickly grew to love her students and sharing the art of dance. Jennifer has taught various subjects including children’s classes, ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary and jazz. She has choreographed for various studios in the DFW area as well as for Pantego Christian Academy, Arlington High School and Summit High School. Her choreography has taken overalls at both the regional and national levels. She has also been awarded three “Top Teacher” awards at Star Systems competition as well as Top Choreography and Top Technique Awards. Jennifer’s favorite place to be is in the classroom sharing her love of dance in a fun, energetic and positive way.
Jennifer graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Secondary Education and teaches English at a local high school. With the help of many friends and family members, Jennifer feels blessed to be living her dream of owning a studio. After the first four years, she feels incredibly blessed by the success of Momentum Dance. The Momentum Company has seen great success and regional and national competitions and Jennifer’s jazz and contemporary choreography have received overall awards and outstanding choreography accolades. It is her goal to continue to offer classes for competitive and recreational students at all levels and maintain a studio that is family-oriented and morally inspiring.
Anne Marie Smith
Technique/Children’s Classes/Recital Director
Anne-Marie Smith is now in her fifteenth year of dance instruction, specializing in the subjects of Ballet, Drill/Dance Team, Clogging, Lyrical, Jazz and Tap. She is a proud graduate of Texas Christian University, with a degree in business Marketing. While there, she was a student of the ballet department, taking classes from Li Chou Cheng, Elizabeth Gillaspy, and Cheyhun Ozsoy. She has also studied under Julie Ballew and taken master classes from Mia Michaels, Mike Minery, and Sonya Tayeh. Anne-Marie directed the TCU Showgirls Dance Team and taught at many locations in the DFW Metroplex, including Tarrant County College Southeast Campus, Bruce Lea Dance Factory, and the Pinnacle School for Fine Arts. She has also choreographed for the Dance and Drill Teams of Kennedale Junior High, Paradise High School, Peaster High School, Plano West Senior High and Boswell High School.
Her routines for these various teams have won the highest of awards in both regional and national drill/dance competitions. In the realm of competitive dance, her Musical Theater, Clogging, Jazz and Tap routines have received numerous special awards and high overall placement at Stage One, Showstoppers and Dance Showcase Competitions. Anne-Marie loves to share her passion for dance with students of all ages and levels, building strong bonds that last for a lifetime. She is very excited to begin her journey with Momentum this year and looks forward to becoming a part of this amazing studio. Most importantly, Anne-Marie is blessed with an incredible family, including her husband, Jason and two beautiful daughters, Glorianne and Gabrielle.
Tap Instructor/Competition/Children’s Instructor
Audrey first started dance at age three under the direction of Janis Roeton. She ventured into the competition world at age seven taking classes in tap, jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, clogging, & lyrical and continued on that path for thirteen years. While competing she earned many awards at the regional and national levels. Attending conventions and master classes helped her to further her dance education. Audrey started teaching when she was sixteen, she has taught all ages and several styles. She quickly discovered that sharing her dance knowledge and seeing students have their light bulb moment was very exciting.
She has taught several summer camps at the YMCA and also volunteers for a nonprofit organization to teach a summer show. Audrey has earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Tarrant County College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Management at University of Texas at Arlington. Audrey has been with Momentum from the start and truly thinks she has found a dance family. She couldn’t be more excited to start another year with Jennifer and the wonderful staff.
